Tax Compliance Officer

About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Tax & Statutory Compliance Officer to manage the Company's tax obligations and ensure full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory requirements. This is a remote role requiring approximately one week of focused work during the last week of each month, with additional availability during statutory filing periods where necessary. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and filing statutory tax returns, coordinating tax payments, maintaining compliance records, and liaising with relevant tax authorities. The role covers corporate taxes, employee taxes, indirect taxes, and investor-related withholding tax obligations. Key Responsibilities Prepare, calculate, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns. Manage PAYE (Personal Income Tax) deductions, reconciliations, and remittances for employees. Prepare and submit annual employee tax schedules and support tax clearance certificate processes. Calculate, file, and remit Value Added Tax (VAT). Calculate and remit Withholding Tax (WHT) on vendor and contractor payments. Manage investor withholding tax calculations, deductions, remittances, and reporting. Coordinate Company Income Tax (CIT) filings and annual tax computations. Support tax audits, investigations, and regulatory reviews. Maintain accurate tax records, schedules, and supporting documentation. Monitor changes in tax laws and advise management on compliance requirements. Liaise with FIRS, State Internal Revenue Services, and other regulatory bodies. Ensure timely payment and remittance of all statutory obligations to avoid penalties. Assist in tax planning, compliance reviews, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, ANAN, or CITN is an advantage. Minimum of 3 years' experience in tax, accounting, or statutory compliance. Strong understanding of: PAYE administration Company Income Tax (CIT) Value Added Tax (VAT) Withholding Tax (WHT) Tax audit and compliance processes Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Strong analytical and reconciliation skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
